Discover 7 proven ways to find cheap air tickets. Save money on flights with insider tips that help you travel more while spending less

7 Tips to Buy Cheap Air Tickets

1. Book Tuesdays and Wednesdays :

Tuesday and Wednesday are some of the best days to buy air tickets. Most airlines usually update their booking systems on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. Because airlines know that most passengers only have time to book weekday tickets. Statistically proven, most of us usually look at ticket prices on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

2. Book early, but not too early :

Based on experience, tickets should be booked at least 21 days before the date of travel. Most airlines set up their systems to sell as many tickets as possible. Hence, the system has a fixed quota for cheap tickets. For example, for a flight from Kuala Lumpur to London, the system determines that the first 20 passengers will get the lowest price. The next 200 will get the median price, and the rest will likely pay more. In short, the airline system will set the ticket price based on the margin they want when traveling from Kuala Lumpur to London.

3. Good day for flying :

Try to book tickets to fly on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most airlines consider these two days as 'less busy days' for the booking system. Airports are also generally less busy on these two days than on other days, especially on Fridays and Sundays when the booking system and the airport become very busy.

4. Find the 'Best Deals' for International Flights :

Most airlines offer 'best deals' for international flights about 11 to 12 weeks in advance. So, check the ticket prices regularly during this period.

5. Choose smaller airports :

You can try this method, which is to fly to a smaller airport near the destination instead of landing at the main airport. For example, if you want to go to London, many people usually get off at Heathrow. Next time, instead of landing at Heathrow, try landing at a smaller airport near Heathrow, such as Manchester Airport. Then from Manchester, you can go to London by train. Try this method, it should be cheaper!

6. Clear 'cookies' :

Many do not know this. If you have visited the airline's website within 30 days, clear cookies from your laptop, smartphone, and PC. Because through these cookies the airline's booking system will remember that you have visited their website repeatedly. Hence, the booking system will show the same price even if you visit the website multiple times. Sometimes the price may increase! So, make it a habit to clear your internet browser's cookies. If you don't know how to delete it, ask Google!

7. Compare prices :

Don't be lazy to google and compare the prices of the tickets you want to buy on other websites. Don't focus on just one website. You will be surprised because sometimes you will find the same airline ticket cheaper. Here are some search engines I often use for travel:

  1. Skyscanner
  2. CheapFlight
  3. Momondo
  4. Kayak
  5. Google Flight
  6. Ita Software
